2002 Cadillac DeVille Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2002 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Draining engine oil and taking off front exhaust manifold pipe is the first step to replace the Oil Pan. Clear the engine oil level sensor's electrical connector before extracting the engine oil level sensor from the Oil Pan. Start by removing the Oil Pan bolts yet preserve the Oil Pan Gasket unless it's damaged because it can be reused in its groove unless retrieval becomes necessary. When all parts are removed from the Oil Pan you can proceed with cleaning and inspecting it. Clean the seal groove before inserting the new Oil Pan seal into both directions surrounding the pan grooves. The Oil Pan should be installed into the crankcase and the retaining bolts should be torqued to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) following the specified installation order. Install the engine oil level sensor into the Oil Pan groove where it requires 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque. When this is complete, establish the electrical connection to the engine oil level sensor . Secondly install the front exhaust manifold pipe, add oil to the engine and test for leakages once the engine starts up.
