• Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the steering wheel module on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

  A: To change the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil, begin by turning off the ignition and disable the sir system. Take out the Steering Wheel inflator module and the Steering Wheel retaining nut and split the Steering Wheel from the column shaft, turn the column to the 12 o'clock position by moving the key to the off/lock position pulling it out then turning the Steering Shaft till a click can be heard. The Turn Signal Switch assembly should be "up". Lift and unplug the sir connector from the fused jumper assembly connector and verify the steering column for accident damage. Replace the retaining ring, wire protector, and air bag clock spring assembly. For installation, the wheels should be straight ahead and align block tooth and centering mark on the race and upper shaft assembly at 12 o'clock position. The new air bag clock spring assembly will be pre-centered; if using the currently existing one, follow instructions placed there on notice for centering. To align the steering column to the 12 o'clock position and install the hanging air bag clock spring assembly onto the race and upper shaft assembly. Pull the tab in the installed state to take out the air bag clock spring assembly. Install the wire protector in the support bracket and then install the retaining ring and then install the air bag clock spring assembly connector to the fused jumper assembly connector. Mount the Steering Wheel and the Steering Wheel nut onto the steering column shaft and tighten it with 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Lastly, install the Steering Wheel inflator module and activate the sir system.
