You should start by taking off the left sound insulator before the stop lamp switch replacement. First unwind the stop lamp/ABS/shift lock switch counterclockwise before pulling it out. Then detach the electrical connector from the switch. Set the twist lock type stop lamp switch into its locked position during installation because it operates automatically with correct alignment. Push the new stop lamp switch into the retainer until the plunger fully enters the switch tube. Turn the switch 90 degrees to the right until it seated permanently. Plug the electrical connector into the stop lamp switch before placing back the sound insulation.
