How to replace the primary hood latch on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

The first step to replace the primary Hood Latch is to eliminate the radiator support sight shield. The primary latch requires removal of its two securing bolts before disconnecting the Hood Latch release cable from the latch . First install the Hood Latch release cable on the latch before putting the latch in its vehicle position. Screw in the 2 bolts which secure the latch then tighten them to 11 n.m (97 lb in). First install the radiator support sight shield then close the hood and check the latch function before making any required adjustments.
