How to Replace a Shock Absorber on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

Starting the Shock Absorber replacement process involves lifting the vehicle while using proper support. Start by removing the tire and wheel components then disconnect the air line at the top shock position. A screw jack should support the lower Control Arm because it enables spring load relief. Use the strut rod nut socket (J 35669) to remove the three Shock Absorber components consisting of upper mounting nut, retainer and insulator. You can remove the Shock Absorber through the upper Control Arm by hand compressing it. Check the Shock Absorber insulators for upper and lower parts to identify cracks, tears, or damage before replacing bad components. First position the Shock Absorber top through the suspension support along with its insulator installed before putting in place the upper retainer and insulator and nut. The technician should tighten the upper Shock Absorber nut to 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.) and the lower Shock Absorber nut to 102 nm (75 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Shock Absorber air line to the rear suspension support while the air line from the strut connects to the top of the strut before installing the tire and wheel assembly. The ignition should be turned on before vehicle lowering while allowing the alc system to perform the arc for 45 seconds to leave sufficient residual pressure in the air adjustable shock absorbers before the vehicle descent.
