• Q: How to service and repair the thermostat housing and replace the water crossover on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

  A: Beginning the repair process requires technicians to drain the cooling system and remove three parts: the air cleaner assembly, the fuel injector sight shield, and the brake booster vacuum tube from the water housing crossover. Remove the system by disconnecting the fuel regulator vacuum tube and the secondary air solenoid vacuum tube before you take out the Throttle Body and left engine mount strut bracket and EGR Valve. The egr inlet pipe nut must be disconnected from the exhaust crossover only if the EGR Valve inlet pipe needs replacement from the water crossover connection point. Then unscrew the egr inlet pipe bolt and flange from the water crossover before discarding the egr inlet pipe. After disconnecting the evap emission canister purge valve, you should remove the MAP Sensor while also disconnecting its electrical connector. Apply 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) of torque to the bolts. The j 38185 tool will assist in linking the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing while connecting the radiator inlet hose to the water housing crossover. After this, install the Water Pump. After connecting electrical wiring you must install the EGR Valve and handle the EGR Valve inlet pipe replacement when removed. Begin hand-tightening the new egr inlet pipe-to-crossover pipe nut to avoid cross-threading before tightening it to 60 nm (44 ft.
