A 10 mm (0.4 inch) deep indentation needs to be made at the tube bottom with a centerpunch. rest the shock absorber rod inside the vise when the rod maintains its full extended position. Position the 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit into the centerpunch mark for hole drilling to enable gas or a gas/oil mixture to escape while using shop towels to capture the oil. Proceed with the drilling process again for the second hole on this mark in the tube's center by using the same 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit while directing the oil to the shop towels for containment. Position the drain pan below while keeping the shock absorber horizontally using the holes down position then move the rod in and out to extract all oil from the tube.
