2002 Chevrolet Astro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator (C69) on 2002 Chevrolet Astro?
A: The first step when changing the A/C Accumulator is to extract refrigerant from the system. Begin the process by removing the air cleaner together with the upper radiator shroud and grille unit. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the vehicle while keeping both nuts and ferrules attached to the tube. Take out the A/C Accumulator from the evaporator tube after removing its nuts and filter from the A/C Accumulator. New o-rings should be placed onto the evaporator tube before installing the A/C Accumulator with its flow arrow pointing at the evaporator. Apply sufficient torque force of 15 n.m (11 lb ft) when tightening the nuts on the A/C Accumulator. The technician should reinstall the evaporator tube followed by system recharging and leak testing of the repaired component fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). End the procedure by adding back the grille together with the upper radiator shroud and air cleaner.
