• Q: How to service and repair the cruise control module on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?

  A: To service/repair the Cruise Control Module, disengage the negative Battery Cable, and disconnect the electrical connector from the Cruise Control Module. Afterwards, open the throttle body cam for a little larger and then detach the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever and remove it from throttle body bracket and the retainer clip on the engine. Remove the cable slug from the ribbon buckle and turn the cruise control cable 1/4 turn counterclockwise and remove it from the engine compartment. Nuts should be removed from the Cruise Control Module mounting bracket, and the bolts from the cruise module, after which the module can be unmounted from the engine compartment. For installation, push the Cruise Control Module into the mounting bracket until you could not show it anymore, and next, install bolts and tighten them on 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reposition the module back into the engine compartment and tighten the nuts with identical torque specification. Make sure the ribbon is not twisted, join the cruise control cable slug at the ribbon buckle, and push the cable with the module till it hitting the seal. Adjust the narrow cable tab into the narrow slot and the wide tab into the wide slot and ensure that the adjuster tab faces front of car. Tighten up the cruise control cable to the module by turning it clockwise after which the electrical connector is to be reconnected. Finally, connect the throttle body cam to the retainer clip on the engine, throttle body bracket and slightly open the throttle body cam, attach the cable to the throttle body cam lever and reconnect back the negative Battery Cable.
