To replace the hood emblem/nameplate, make sure to protect the mounting surface with tape and mark for alignment. Benefits of heat gun (J 25070), heating emblem/nameplate in circular motion for about 30 sec while keeping it about 152mm (6 in) from icon. Gently lift the emblem/nameplate with the help of a plastic, flat-bladed instrument. For removal of adhesives, the use of a 3M (TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M (TM) P/N 07501) for body use or a lint free cloth with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol mixed with water on plastic. Before installation, clean the area using the same lint-free cloth and solution, but make it thoroughly dry. In case the emblem/nameplate is not marked, apply the tape and lay the CHEVY BOW TIE emblem centered from left to right across the hood, placing it 27 mm (1.063 in) from the front. If required, warm the mounting surface around 27-41°C (80-105°F) with the Heat Gun (J 25070), and the emblem/nameplate should be in the range of 29-32°C (85-90°F). Do not touch the adhesive, remove the protective liner and place the emblem/nameplate into the position indicated by the marks placing equal pressure to press it onto the surface. Lastly, peel off the protective tape from the mounting surface.
