2002 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Two essential components needed for Fuel Rail assembly replacement include fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) and fuel line quick connect separator tool set (J 37088-A). You should begin your work by detaching the negative Battery Cable then disconnecting the Fuel Rail assembly while being cautious about injector electrical connector terminals and spray tips. After removing the Fuel Rail users should support it in place to avoid damage while using caps to secure each fitting against contamination. Use gm x-30 a engine cleaner or equivalent as a spray to wash the Fuel Rail assembly. The cleaning procedure excludes soaking the assembly in any liquid solvent after relieving fuel system pressure and removing the left and right Fuel Rail covers. Disconnect the fuel feed hose from the Fuel Rail and save the positions of all fuel injector electrical connectors for reinstallation. You must first remove the Fuel Rail attaching bolts and the Fuel Rail assembly before discarding all lower o-ring seals from each injector. Installing the injector o-ring seals requires clean engine oil for lubrication before placing them at the spray tip end of each injector. The safety feature demands installation of the Fuel Rail stop bracket. Secure the Fuel Rail assembly to its Intake Manifold slot and apply gm p/n 12345382 threadlock (0.020 inches in width) to Fuel Rail bolts before tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall the negative Battery Cable while connecting the correct order of injector electrical connectors and attaching the fuel feed hose to the Fuel Rail before tightening the fuel filler cap. First turn on the ignition switch for 2 seconds and then wait another 10 seconds while the switch is off before checking the fuel leak locations. Furthermore you need to install the right and left Fuel Rail covers.
