2003 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The necessary replacement tools for a Fuel Rail assembly include a fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) and tool set alongside fuel line quick connect separator (J 37088-A). Start the process by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable along with draining fuel system pressure. Clear away the left and right Fuel Rail covers before cleaning the Fuel Rail assembly with gm x-30a or equivalent spray type engine cleaner without submerging it in liquid solvent. You should disconnect the fuel feed hose from the Fuel Rail and then remove the fuel injector electrical connectors while marking each injector for correct reinstallation. Record the location of the Fuel Rail ground strap on the Intake Manifold because proper installation is required. Disassemble the Fuel Rail by removing its attaching bolts and removing the Fuel Rail assembly during which time discard all injector o-ring seals from the lower position. Install new lower injector o-rings by applying clean engine oil and placing them at the spray tip end of each injector before you can secure the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold. The Fuel Rail stop bracket must be installed because it stops fuel spray during frontal collisions. A 5-mm (0.020 in) band of gm p/n 12345382 threadlock (Canadian P/N 10953489) should be applied to the Fuel Rail bolt threads before installing and torquing the bolting hardware to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Complete the connection sequence of Fuel Rail electrical wires according to specified firing order then attach the fuel hose to the rail component. The procedure for leak inspection includes reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and checking for any fluid leakage by following the specified sequence of turning the ignition on and off. The right and left Fuel Rail covers need to be installed as the final step.
