2004 Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The necessary replacement tools for the Fuel Rail assembly include a fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) and a fuel line quick connect separator tool set (J 37088-A). Start the procedure by detaching the negative battery terminal then taking off the left Fuel Rail protective cover. Drain fuel system pressure and proceed to remove the right Fuel Rail cover. The Fuel Rail assembly requires cleaning using gm x-30a or an equivalent spray type engine cleaner according to package directions but not to submerge the rail. First disconnect the fuel feed hose from the Fuel Rail before disconnecting the fuel injector electrical connectors while making sure to track the component locations for proper reassembly. Take note of the Fuel Rail ground strap position on the Intake Manifold since it requires correct reinstallation during the process. First remove Fuel Rail attendant bolts and replace Fuel Rail assembly while discarding all injector lower o-ring seals. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate new lower injector o-ring seals prior to installing them on the spray tip end of every injector. A safety measure requires the Fuel Rail stop bracket to be installed. Use gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) threadlock as a 5-mm (0.020 in) band on Fuel Rail bolts that must be screwed to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The procedure ends with these steps: bridge the injector electrical connectors properly and attach the fuel hose to the Fuel Rail. The last steps involve tightening the fuel cap then reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Check for leaks by turning the ignition switch on for 2 seconds, then off for 10 seconds while examining for fuel leakage. Append the right and left Fuel Rail covers as the last step.
