2005 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Disconnection of the negative cable from the battery must happen first for Fuel Rail assembly replacement work. Start by opening the sight covers at the engine to lower fuel system pressure. Compressed air should be used to clean both the Fuel Injector along with the Intake Manifold. Before disconnecting electrical connectors keep your marks of the Fuel Rail injector fitting relation to the Fuel Rail electrical connector position. Start by unbolting the Intake Manifold from its place and removing all Fuel Rail mounting bolts . Extract the Fuel Rail assembly from the Intake Manifold space then proceed with Fuel Injector removal from the rail. Place the fuel injectors in the Fuel Rail following which apply a tiny amount of factory motor oil to the o-rings. Start by attaching the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold while applying gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) thread lock to the Fuel Rail and Intake Manifold bolts with a 5 mm (0.020 in) band length. The intake mounting bolts must be installed together with the Fuel Rail stop bracket which safeguards the Fuel Rail from frontal impacts. Begin by fastening the Intake Manifold bolts to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in) and move to installing and torquing the Fuel Rail mounting bolts to achieve the same 10 n.m (89 lb in) figure. Reinstall the electrical connector of the fuel injectors while maintaining correct Fuel Injector assignments and connect the fuel feed hose back to the Fuel Rail. The last step involves connecting the negative Battery Cable while performing an inspection for leaks by following a sequence of turning on, off, and on again before installing the engine sight covers. This procedure requires the tools consisting of fuel pressure gage (J 34730-1A) and the tool set, fuel line quick connect separator (J 37088-A).
