2002 Chevrolet Corvette Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To replace the Throttle Body assembly, first use care when working with the electronic throttle control components in order not to damage them, do not drop and do not submerge it in any solvents. There is an 8 digit part ident on the Throttle Body casting, this is useful for servicing or replacement of parts. Start by lifting the vehicle and partially drain the cooling system to remove the hoses from the Throttle Body. Slacken it and ensure that any openings are covered or plugged in order to avoid cause of contamination. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensors electrical conex, remove the air intake duct, air control valves and tp sensor electrical connectors along with a crankcase valve hose off the Throttle Body. Remove the attaching bolts of the Throttle Body and how it was connected to disconnect the coolant hoses before you remove the Throttle Body and gasket making sure you will not use the gasket again. Check for any damage on the crankcase ventilation hose and tube and replace any broken parts. For installation put a new Throttle Body Gasket, hook up the coolant hoses and install the Throttle Body assembly tightening the Throttle Body bolts to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in) using a torque wrench. Re-connect tp sensor and crank case ventilation hose with good attention given to the evaluation of the air control valve electrical connector and seal being done properly. Install the air intake duct back and reconnect the intake Air Temperature Sensor electric connector back. Refill the cooling system and check the throttle complete in/out positions by driving with the accelerator pedal and using throttle angles as read out on a scan tool. Finally, let the engine run and look for coolant leakage.
