By using both j 26941 pinion shaft and countergear bearing cup remover along with j 23907 slide hammer you will extract the drive Axle Shaft fluid seal from the transaxle. Treat the drive axle assembly differential-side joint surface for free of damage while checking for smoothness and absence of burrs or scarring before replacing the differential-side joint when damage is spotted. The j 35553 differential side bearing seal installer (J 35553) combined with a hammer on the driver's side will be used for installing new drive Axle Shaft fluid seal into the transaxle. For the passenger's side, installation requires a hammer together with a socket. Before reinstalling the drive axle into the vehicle add j 36850 Transmission Assembly lubricant (J 36850) onto the new seal lip. The last step includes replacing the front tire and wheel after installing the left splash shield with six bolts fastened to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) tension before lowering the vehicle and filling the transaxle with fluid if required.
