2003 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Body on 2003 Buick Century?
A: Start your Throttle Body service and repair work by disconnecting the air cleaner intake duct first. Thoroughly inspect Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate for deposits and check all throttle valve surfaces by opening the valve. Wipe the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate with gm top engine cleaner gm p/n 1052626 (Canadian P/N 993026) or equivalent chemical solution through a clean shop towel. Strong solvents or immersion cleaners should be avoided on throttle position (TP) sensor modules inside throttle assemblies as this damages electrical components while also threatening sealed o-rings and o-rings and potentially degrading non-serviceable throttle shaft bearing grease. The use of wire brushes or scrapers is prohibited because they damage Throttle Body components while cleaner solutions without methyl ethyl ketone should be avoided because they cause unnecessary part destruction. The Throttle Body needs cleaning by a brush when deposits exceed acceptable levels and requires disassembly. Operators should not immerse the cleaning brush in a solvent. Reassemble your Throttle Body before installing it followed by reinstalling the air cleaner intake duct.
