How to replace the rear door check link on 2003 Cadillac CTS?

The first step to replace the rear door check involves removing the door trim panel. To reach the check you must pull on the forward portion of the water deflector which is detached from the door panel. The check requires removal of its bolts that attach to hinge pillar bolts and door nuts before being extracted from the door compartment. Install the check in the door opening before securing the check to door nuts by tightening them to 9 Nm force. Fasten the check arm to the center pillar bolt before securing it at 9 Nm (80 lb in). Finish the operation by putting back the water deflector and pressing in the door trim panel.
