2003 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front Door Latch Assembly on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: You should start by putting the window into full up position before removing the door trim panel. Draining the water deflector is the subsequent step. The front door latch requires a removal of its outside door handle rod by opening the clip before disconnecting the lock cylinder rod from the door latch when equipped. The rod guide requires technicians to remove the lock knob rod while also removing the inside handle rod from its position. Remove the door latch screws and relocate the door latch inside the car with its attached inside door handle rod and lock rod. The electrical connector lock can be unlocked with a small flat tool. Then disconnect the electrical connector. The door latch needs the handle rod and lock rod extracted. First install the inside door handle rod with the lock rod on the door latch before attaching the electrical connector. After putting the door latch in position the lock cylinder rod should be installed to the door latch followed by secure tightening of door latch screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in). Put the outside door handle rod into the latch clip before clamping the clip shut. After that, insert the lock knob rod into the rod guide and place the inside handle rod inside the rod guide. Inspect the function of the door handles and lock cylinder and door latch before reinstalling the water deflector along with the door trim panel.
