  A: Step one for repairing a Fuel Pressure Regulator requires following the fuel pressure relief procedure to reduce fuel system pressure and establishing precautions against gasoline/gasoline vapors. Take off the air inlet grill for safety then put a shop towel below as a fuel absorbent. First disconnect the atmospheric vent hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator before unfastening the Fuel Pressure Regulator clamp bolt. Open the clamp slightly to createction for removing the Fuel Pressure Regulator by twisting it toward the engine block from the Fuel Rail port. Begin the installation by coating the o-ring seals with clean engine oil found on the Fuel Pressure Regulator before twisting it while pushing the regulator until it is securely tightened against the Fuel Rail with its atmospheric vent aimed toward the front of the engine. Place the clamp around the Fuel Pressure Regulator and Fuel Rail followed by the installation of the fuel regulator clamp bolt which should be tightened to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Before reinstallation of the air inlet grill use a scan tool to turn on the Fuel Pump and check for leaks through the atmospheric vent hose that is attached to the Fuel Pressure Regulator port.
