2003 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injectors and fuel rail on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: A Fuel Rail replacement along with fuel injectors requires you to drain system pressure and take away the intake plenum. You can detach the return hose/pipe and feed hose/pipe from the Fuel Rail through the use of metal collar components in the quick connect fitting(s) service. First remove the Fuel Rail brace bolt from the Intake Manifold while you should disconnect the Fuel Injector electrical connectors from each injector and unclip the harness from the Fuel Rail before setting it aside. The first step is to detach the Fuel Pressure Regulator atmospheric vent hose followed by using tools to remove the Fuel Rail bolts which fasten the rail to the Intake Manifold. Apply compressed air through a safe set of eye protection devices to clean the section where injectors penetrate the intake casting. Grasp the Fuel Rail assembly from the Intake Manifold while protecting the connector terminals and spray tips from damage and seal all fittings to stop contaminants. First the fuel injectors' retainers should be removed and then the injectors need to be extracted from the Fuel Rail before discarding all o-ring seals. Clean engine oil lubricates new o-ring seals before their installation onto the fuel injectors followed by secure installation of fuel injectors into the Fuel Rail with fresh retainers where electrical connectors maintain perpendicular alignment with the crankshaft centerline. Position the fuel injectors together with the Fuel Rail toward the Intake Manifold before pushing the installed rail assembly until it reaches complete seating. Secure the Fuel Rail using bolts which should be tightened to 8 n.m (71 lb in) while it remains mounted to the Intake Manifold with installed injectors. Secure the atmospheric vent hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator while connecting the electrical harness of the Fuel Injector to the Fuel Rail and finishing by attaching electrical connectors to each injector. Place the Fuel Rail brace bolt to the Intake Manifold then tighten it to 8 n.m (71 lb in) before connecting feed hose/pipe and return hose/pipe to the Fuel Rail through the use of quick connect fitting(s) service (Metal Collar) and finally placing the intake plenum.
