2003 Cadillac CTS Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injectors and fuel rail on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: The first step to replace fuel injectors and Fuel Rail should include the removal of the intake plenum followed by fuel system pressure relief. Detach the return hose/pipe and feed hose/pipe from the Fuel Rail by using the quick connect fitting(s) service (Metal Collar). Begin by removing the Fuel Rail brace bolt on the Intake Manifold. After that disconnect the Fuel Injector electrical connectors from each injector and unclip the harness from the Fuel Rail. You must disconnect both ends of the atmospheric vent hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator and then detach the bolts holding the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold. Instill the service habit of clearing dirt from the intake casting by blowing with compressed air while always wearing protective safety glasses. You should carefully lift the Fuel Rail assembly from the Intake Manifold yet maintain the safety of both injector electrical connector terminals and spray tips while using fittings to stop possible contamination. Take out the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail while removing their retainers and discard both the o-ring seals. Before setting the fuel injectors into place on the Fuel Rail utilize clean engine oil to lubricate new o-ring seals and ensure electrical connectors run horizontally to the crankshaft centerline when securing the retainer clips. Follow this procedure to align the Fuel Rail assembly and transformer so the manifold seat gets fully pressed down into position. Secure the Fuel Rail with the installed injectors onto the Intake Manifold by using bolts which should be tightened to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Begin by attaching the atmospheric vent hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator while attaching the Fuel Injector electrical harness to the Fuel Rail through its connectors before installing each electrical connector to an injector. The Fuel Rail brace bolt should be installed to the Intake Manifold before securing it with 8 n.m (71 lb in) torque then adding the feed hose/pipe and return hose/pipe to the Fuel Rail using quick connect fitting(s) service (Metal Collar). Finally, reinstall the intake plenum.
