• Q: How to replace the fuel injectors and fuel rail on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Before replacing the fuel injectors and Fuel Rail it is necessary to depressurize the fuel system. Separate the intake plenum before disconnecting all quick-connect fittings from both sides of the Fuel Rail as well as the return hose/pipe along with the feed hose/pipe . First step into replacing fuel injectors and rail requires removing the Fuel Rail brace bolt from Intake Manifold while also disconnecting Fuel Injector electrical connectors and unclipping harnesses from Fuel Rail before separating the atmospheric vent hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Let compressed air through safety glasses while blowing dirt out of the regions where injectors enter the casting with the help of compressed air after removing Intake Manifold bolts securing the Fuel Rail. Proceed by pulling up the Fuel Rail assembly from the Intake Manifold before detaching both the Fuel Injector retainers and extracting the injectors from the rail assembly. Then discard all o-ring seals. First apply clean engine oil to all new o-ring seals of the fuel injectors before placing them on each Fuel Injector. Insert the fuel injectors into the Fuel Rail through new retaining clips which should maintain a perpendicular position to the crankshaft centerline. Press the Fuel Rail assembly downwards until the complete seating is achieved after aligning it with the Intake Manifold. The Fuel Rail should be installed to the Intake Manifold using 8 n.m torque (71 lb in) for bolt tightening. Screw in the atmospheric vent hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator system while you install the Fuel Injector electrical connectors on the Fuel Rail and connect the electrical harness to the same rail. It is necessary to install the Fuel Rail brace bolt to the Intake Manifold before securing it with 8 n.m (71 lb in) torque while also connecting quick connect fittings to both the feed hose/pipe and return hose/pipe. Finally, install the intake plenum.
