How to replace the front seat belt on 2003 Cadillac CTS?

Starting a front seat belt replacement requires first removing the front seat back trim cover followed by the front seat cover together with pad. You should remove the screws attaching the roller assembly cover prior to taking out the cover. First detach the bolt which connects the seat belt retractor to the seat frame followed by removing the seat belt lower retaining nut then the full assembly. The new retractor requires an untwisted seat belt before installation. Start by installing the seat belt to the mounting stud and position its anti-rotation tab properly in the seat frame before torquing the retaining nut to 42 N.m (31 lb ft). The seat belt should be placed over the roller assembly without twists while you should install the retractor after it locates the anti-rotation tab precisely on the seat frame then tighten the retractor fastener. Secure the retractor with the retaining bolt then tighten it to 26 N.m (19 lb ft). Insert the roller assembly cover while you tighten both roller assembly screws to 5 N.m (44 lb in). Reinstall the seat back cover after checking the seat belt retractor operation and install the front seat. Test the proper functioning of seat belt retractors as the last step.
