  A: A technician needs to detach the battery negative cable as the initial procedure before servicing or repairing the Starter motor. Service on the Starter motor starts with removing the Intake Manifold and taking off the bat cable from the Starter followed by removing the wire from the "s" terminal of the Starter. Remove the two mounting bolts from the Starter motor before taking out the unit. During installation connect the Starter motor s terminal wire with tightness set at 4 n.m (35 lb in). Fasten the Starter motor bat terminal wire and tighten the Battery Cable to Starter terminal nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Mount the Starter motor and tighten its mounting bolts to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Conclude the installation by putting back the Intake Manifold together with reestablishing the battery negative connection.
