• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: Remove the vehicle battery negative cable as the first step before you start to remove the Intake Manifold. After disconnecting the bat cable from the Starter the wire needs removal from the "s" terminal on the Starter. First disconnect the two bolts and then extract the Starter motor from its mounting position. The installation requires wiring of the Starter motor "s" terminal before tightening its solenoid s terminal nut to 4 n.m (35 lb in). The bat terminal wire of the Starter motor must be connected while the Starter terminal nut requires tightening with 10 n.m of torque force (89 lb in of torque). Secure the Starter motor by installing its mounting bolts then tighten them to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After reinstalling the Intake Manifold complete the process by reconnecting the battery negative cable.
