The engineer should set the oil drain pan under the engine oil Drain Plug before unscrewing the engine Oil Pan Drain Plug. Check and clean the Drain Plug then replace it unless it requires immediate fixing and maintain the Oil Pan sealing surface until the pan gets replaced if damage is found. The cleaning process must begin by removing the Oil Filter after which the engine block sealing area requires cleaning and possibly new replacement of damaged components.
