Chevrolet Monte Carlo Oil Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The replacement process for engine oil and the Oil Filter starts by elevating the vehicle while providing it with proper support. Set the oil drain pan under the engine oil Drain Plug before removing the engine Oil Pan Drain Plug. Drain Plug inspection should be followed by necessary repairs or plug replacement and sealing surface inspection on the Oil Pan and potential pan replacement when necessary. The following step entails filter removal for cleaning the engine block sealing area before assessing for any necessary block or filter replacements. Use clean oil to lightly lubricate the new Oil Filter gasket before you install it on the engine block and set the filter torque to 3/4 to 1 full turn after the gasket faces the mounting surface. Fasten the engine Oil Pan Drain Plug with a torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Once the vehicle is lowered remove the drain pan while pouring fresh engine oil into the engine. Check for oil leakage after powering up the engine. After stopping the engine let the draining oil rest inside the Oil Pan for some time before reinstallation. Reinstall the oil level indicator on the tube after cleaning its end with a paper towel or cloth by letting the handle stop at the tube's top. Check the oil level while keeping the tip of the indicator down. Check engine oil levels then modify the amount by adding or draining off oil as needed.
