2003 Chevrolet Tracker Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Before removing the hose and pipe from the pump housing you must clean it thoroughly then position a drain pan directly under the Power Steering Pump to trap any fluid leakage. The first step involves loosening the clamp and retrieving the outlet hose from the Power Steering Pump that leads to the power steering reservoir. Begin by removing the reservoir equipped with its outlet hose from the vehicle before disconnecting matchings from Power Steering Pump and power steering gear inlet hose . Uninstall both gaskets and inlet hose of the power steering gear and remove the Power Steering Pressure Switch connector and Power Steering Pump Drive Belt during the operation. To proceed with the operation eliminate the power steering belt drive then eliminate 3 screws that anchor the Power Steering Pump before extracting it from the vehicle. Install the Power Steering Pump into the vehicle by securing it with 3 bolts which should be tightened up to 25 nm (18.5 ft. Lbs.). Then attach the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump while using 2 gaskets and the fitting and tighten the fitting to 60 nm torque. Put the reservoir back into the vehicle while connecting its outlet hose to the pump and securing it with the clamp. The Power Steering Pump Drive Belt needs installation followed by fluid addition into the reservoir and system bleeding of the power steering system.
