2003 GMC Safari Ignition Coil Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the ignition coil on 2003 GMC Safari?
A: Begin Ignition Coil service and repair operations by removing the engine cover followed by removing Distributor electrical connectors and Ignition Coil wire. Start by extracting the bracket and Ignition Coil studs which hold them in position to the Intake Manifold before pulling out the bracket and Ignition Coil. After drilling and punching out the rivets attaching the Ignition Coil to its bracket users can remove the coil from the bracket. The replacement process involves putting the Ignition Coil on the bracket by using the two screws in the kit and finishing the assembly by fastening the coil-bracket combo to the Intake Manifold with studs set to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Install the Ignition Coil wire in a way that avoids touching any parts including the dip stick because contact could create long-term grounding or shorting conditions. Reconnect the electrical connectors then install the engine cover.
