How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on 2003 GMC Safari?

First, raise the vehicle and take off the bolt and the connector to the harness. First, put a drain pan under the vehicle and use the J 38417 Speed Sensor Remover tool to both remove the speed sensor and the O-ring seal. To put in the new speed sensor and seal, use the J 38417 Speed Sensor Remover (J 38417) and make sure to put a bit of transmission fluid on the seal before installing it. Put the bolt back in place, tighten it to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.), and then plug the harness connector back in. After that, bring the vehicle back to the ground and refuel the fluid if it is needed.
