  • Q: How to Remove and Install the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
A: In order to remove the air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable the first step is to disable the sir system and meet the needed precautions first. Next, unbolt the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and the Steering Wheel nut recording the alignment mark on the Steering Shaft and Steering Wheel. Steering Wheel needs to be removed, vehicles with a tilt column remove the tilt lever pulling it straight out then remove the tilt lever assembly. Remove two torx(R) head screws from the lower shroud, and remove the lower shroud followed by the extraction of two torx(R) head screws from the upper shroud and the shroud itself. Before spilling wine, remove the wire harness straps from the Steering Wheel column wire harness and the sir coil off the Steering Shaft - remove the retaining ring, and if replacing, the old sir coil. In installing, the wheels should be directed straight ahead, and the block tooth and centering mark should be the 12 o'clock position. If centering is necessary, refer to the instructions from the notice of the coil assembly. The new sir coil will be pre-centered, heel renegades, keep the went ycicking carriage tab until installed. Lining up the sir coil assembly with the horn tower located on the turn signal cancel cam assembly, gently push the new sir coil onto the Steering Shaft assembly and firmly seat retaining ring in the groove. After removing the center tab, install the upper shroud and tighten it using 2 torx(R) head screw by 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Install the lower shroud and tighten it using 2 torx head screws in such a way that the tabs on the lower shroud go inside the upper shroud and make the torx head screws as tight as 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). If your vehicle has a tilt column, align and slide the tilt lever handle into the steering column, and lock it into place. Pass the wiring through the steering-wheel and position the Steering Wheel at the indicated mark on the Steering Shaft and mount it onto the shaft by tightening the nut to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Finally install the inflateral restraint in the Steering Wheel and enable the sir facilities.
