2004 Buick LeSabre Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake pads on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
A: Check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level first. If you find the fluid between maximum-full and minimum allowed points, drain fluid to the midpoint. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel at the same time. A large c-clamp helps push the caliper piston into the holder while letting the caliper move past the brake rotor before you take out the c-clamp. Secure the brake caliper with heavy mechanics wire while working on the rear wheels. Position the caliper body upward before disconnecting the hydraulic hose then compress the piston using a clamp with a wood block. When completed take away the c-clamp then uninstalled the Brake Pad from the caliper bracket to view Brake Pad retainers. Examine the suspension boots of the caliper bolt while inspecting its bolts for rust damage and replacing them if they pose a problem. Apply a thin coat of niglue grease to the front brake caliper pin bolt and put the Brake Pad retainers and both brake pads into the caliper bracket. Move the caliper down to position over the pads. Push the lower caliper pin in place and fasten it with 85 n.m (63 lb ft) torque. Place the tire and wheel back into position while lowering the vehicle then press the Brake Pedal 2/3 of its range before easing off the pressure. Keep pressing the Brake Pedal until it reaches its normal position which helps the floating piston and Brake Pad find their ideal placement. Complete the brake master cylinder reservoir before using a Brake Pad and rotor burnishing process.
