  A: First step for replacing valve lifters involves keeping track of the valve train parts so you can reposition everything accurately exactly where it was with original mating surfaces. Start your work by taking out rocker arms and pushrods and pedestals then proceed to remove the lower Intake Manifold with its gaskets. Disassemble the valve retainer bolts to let go of the valve guide retainer followed by removing both valve lifters and guides. Inspect and clean the existing valve lifters followed by submersion of new valve lifters in prelude gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or its equivalent fluid. Installed valve lifters together with valve lifter guides followed by valve guide retainer installation where the technician should apply 30 nm torque to the valve guide retainer bolts (22 ft. Lbs.). To complete the replacement process reinstall the lower Intake Manifold and gaskets followed by the valve rocker arms and pushrods and pedestals.
