2004 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace Rear Coil Springs on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Suitable vehicle support is crucial at the beginning step of installing a new rear coil spring. First remove the tire and wheel followed by a jack supporting the lower Control Arm. Proceed by removing both absorption lower retaining bolts and the adjustment link retaining nut. The universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) helps separate the knuckle from its adjustment link. Lower the suspension until the lower control arm contacts the support assembly. Persons should use a pry bar to peel the lower spring insulator from underneath and extract both the spring and insulator then release the upper insulator through downward pressure. During installation the upper insulator goes inside the body before setting the lower insulator into the Control Arm. Place the spring into position while double-checking that the insulator rests in the correct alignment within the Control Arm. Put the lower Control Arm in its proper position and run the shock-absorbing retaining bolts before applying a torque of 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). After tightening the adjustment link nut to 50 nm (36 ft. Lbs.) you should attach the link to the Control Arm. Finish by installing the tire followed by the wheel then slowly lower the vehicle.
