    Q:
What Tools Are Required to Service and Repair Front Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
These tools are necessary for servicing and repairing suspension struts: customers need a strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and a strut spring compressor (J 45400) to complete suspension strut work. Strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and strut spring compressor (J 45400). Mount the removed strut into a strut spring compressor (J 45400) device before starting the procedure. Use the compressor forcing screw to turn the device until the coil spring reaches its compression point. A 45 torx® socket should grip the strut shaft as you extract the upper strut mount nut using the strut rod nut socket (J 42991). To extract the strut from the compressor unit tighten the forcing screw before uninstalling both the upper strut mount and coil spring assembly. When assembling the coil spring and upper strut mount into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) compress the spring a second time. Insert the strut and upper strut mount onto the coil spring before installing the strut retaining nut loosely then use the standard 45 torx socket to stabilize the strut shaft during upper strut mount tightening with the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) to 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.). After removing the strut from the strut spring compressor (J 45400) you must install it back into the vehicle.
