2004 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2004 Cadillac CTS?
A: Start the txv thermal expansion valve replacement process by using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for leakages. The maintenance process starts with removing the i/p retainer then proceeding to take out the txv insulation. Begin by removing the hvac line clamp screw and following it up with the removal of the hvac line clamp. First remove the txv to Evaporator bolts and then the txv line bracket followed by separating the txv from the Evaporator core to extract it forward from the a/c lines. Apply lubricating fluid to the o-rings before you insert a/c lines into the txv and guide the txv onto the Evaporator core until it reaches full seat position. Secure the txv line bracket first then install the txv to Evaporator bolts before binding them with 3.5 n.m (31 lb in) torque. Next secure the hvac line clamp with its screw by using 1 n.m of torque force equivalent to 8 lb in. Put the insulation over all lines and txv before reinstalling the i/p retainer.
