- Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 2 on 2004 Cadillac CTS?A: To replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 2, you first disconnect the knock sensor pigtail from the electrical connector and bracket, then remove the accessory mounting bracket, making sure to note the routing of the pigtail to ensure a correct installation. Then remove the knock sensor pigtail from the retaining clips and the bolt from the middle of the knock sensor and pull out the knock sensor from the engine block. For installation, make sure to clean up the mating surfaces of knock sensor and the engine block, so that the entire contact surface of the knock sensor would be on the contact surface of the engine block. It is very important not to apply washers, spring washers, as well as toothed washers during installation. Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Mount the knock sensor to the engine block, tying it down with a bolt. Heat shield with the knock sensor pigtail using the notations done in the process of removing, placing and ensuring it is not in contact with any movements, and reinstall the accessory mounting bracket and attach the knock sensor pigtail to the electrical connector and bracket.
