- Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?A: In order to replace the Evaporator hose assembly, recover the refrigerant first. Release snap clamp retaining the Evaporator hose to the accumulator cover and then, remove Evaporator hose from the hold down on frame rail. Unplug the electrical connector of a/c low temperature sensor, below this unfasten the Evaporator hose nut from Evaporator and the Evaporator hose from Evaporator. Second, you can now take off the upper filler panel sign and then the nut on the Evaporator hose from the accumulator, and finally the hose from the accumulator. Unscrew the Evaporator hose nut from the condenser, unscrew , the Evaporator hose from the condenser and pull out the Evaporator hose from the vehicle and throw out the sealing washers off the Evaporator hose. To install, first install new sealing washers onto the Evaporator hose, then install it to the condenser, and fasten it to the nut of the Evaporator hose with 20 n.m (15lb ft). Next, fit the Evaporator hose to the Evaporator, and tighten the Evaporator hose nut with 24 n.m (18 lb ft) ft). Mount the Evaporator hose to the accumulator and fix it with the Evaporator hose nut, and thread it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Position the Evaporator hose on the accumulator cover and install the snap clamp , then install the Evaporator hose to the frame rail hold down and to connect the a/c low temperature sensor electrical connector finally, the recharge the a/c system and conduct a leak test for the fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) and reinstall the upper filler panel.
