2004 Cadillac Seville Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: In order to change the Intake Manifold, you first have to remove the 2 nuts from the Intake Manifold sight shield and take the sight shield off the engine. Remove the coil harness connectors on the camshaft covers, f pcv dirty air tube, f pcv fresh air tube, f fuel regulator vacuum tube, and the vacuum tubes from the air solenoid. Then, remove the fuel inlet and return quick-connect fittings at the Fuel Rail, fuel rail bracket retaining nut at the rear lift bracket, and all 8 electrical connectors at the 8 fuel injectors . Turn the ignition key to the "off" position before starting work. Unfasten the 4 bolts fastening the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold and raise the Fuel Rail with the injector all the way up from the Intake Manifold. Relieve the plenum duct clamp at the rear end of the Intake Manifold, disengage the 10 bolts from the Intake Manifold to cylinder heads, and take off the Intake Manifold using upward lifting motion at the front. Clean and inspect the Intake Manifold at all possible factors before lightly greasing the inside edge of the rubber plenum duct and cleaning out the factors of the Cylinder Head or the Intake Manifold. Put in new gaskets on the Intake Manifold and again ensure that the PCV Valve Hose is well connected onto the fitting at the front before placing the rear of the Intake Manifold into the plenum duct and lowering the front down onto the cylinder heads. Loosely install the 10 bolts for Intake Manifold attachment to the cylinder heads, and tight them sequentially (1-10) with the torque specs of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Make sure that the plenum duct is properly affixed to the trunk of the Intake Manifold; clamping the plenum duct at 2.25 nm with an 20 inch lbs. Of torque is mandatory. Lubricate the Fuel Injector bores in the Intake Manifold with light mineral oil gm p/n 9981704, clean engine oil, or equivalent, and press the whole Fuel Rail with injector assembly into the manifold. Mount the 4 bolts that fasten the fuel rail to the Intake Manifold and tighten them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Connect the 8 electrical connectors to the 8 fuel injectors and apply the engine coolant heater wire on the Fuel Rail studs (if equipped), and apply the 2 pushnuts. However, first, bolt in the Fuel Rail bracket retaining nut to the rear lift bracket, fastening it to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Connect the quick connect fittings back to the Fuel Rail and the vacuum tubes back to the air solenoid and fuel regulator vacuum tube, the pcv fresh air tube to the camshaft cover, the pcv dirty air tube to the camshaft cover, and the coil harness connectors on the camshaft covers. Turn the ignition switch to the on position for 2 seconds and then to the off position for 10 seconds and back to the on position to look for fuel leaks. Finally, position the Intake Manifold sight shield towards the engine, then install the 2 Intake Manifold sight shield nuts, tightening them down to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.).
