2004 Cadillac Seville Secondary Air Injection Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: Steer the vehicle to a raised position before starting the replacement of the secondary air injection (AIR) pump. The front portion retaining screws from the left front wheel well/splash shield need removal to let the splash shield drop enough for air pump assembly access. Detach the air pump electrical connector after lowering and relaxing the pinch clamp on the air outlet hose then remove the inlet hose from the air pump. A professional should start the operation by disassembling the air pump to cradle bracket while lifting upwards to extract the air pump from its bracket position. The installation requires placement of the lower air pump bolts/nuts into the cradle bracket followed by pushing it down while installing the upper air pump to cradle bolt before securing all three nuts to 9 nm (80 lb in) torque. The service procedure includes the reconnection of the electrical air pump connector followed by installation of the air outlet hose with pinch clamp to the pump and lastly attaching the inlet hose to the air pump.
