How to replace an emblem/nameplate on the front fender on 2004 Cadillac XLR?

You must protect the panel surface from damage when replacing a front fender emblem/nameplate. Place alignment marks on top with tape before installation. Use the J 25070 (J 25070) at 152 mm (6 in) distance to heat the emblem/nameplate in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Use a plastic tool with a flat end to take the emblem/nameplate off the panel surface. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the area where the emblem/nameplate will be installed and then clean it with VMP naphtha or a 50/50 alcohol-water solution before completely drying. Apply tape first when no marking exists and place the XLR emblem/nameplate 108 mm (4.25 in) behind the fender edge along with 305 mm (12 in) below its bottom border. Heat the mounting area to 80-105°F with J 25070 (J 25070) tool and maintain the emblem/nameplate temperature at 85-90°F. You should not handle the adhesive surface of the emblem/nameplate before removing the back liner. Place the emblem at its marked location and push the part evenly into the mounting surface so it sticks well. Take off the film protection on the mounting area.
