How to replace the Neutral Safety Switch on 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier?

In order to replace the pnp switch, we should unfasten the shift linkage and also disengage the electrical connector. Next, remove the park/neutral position switch mounting bolts and take out the park/neutral position switch assembly. To install through the old switch, position the shift shaft in n (Neutral) and the flats of the shaft with the switch. Mount the park/neutral position switch bolts and tighten them at 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). It is imperative that the engine will be able to start only in p (Park) or n (Neutral) position; revise the switch if the appearance of the engine beings in another position. Last but not least, after having the car in position p and the brake pedal depressed, turn the Ignition Switch to the on position.
