How to service the Neutral Safety Switch for the Automatic Transaxle-4T40-E/4T45-E on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
First to service the transmission position switch/sensor for the automatic transaxle-4t40-e/4t45-e, disconnect the negative Battery Cable and also remove the shift linkage and the electrical connectors. After this, remove the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut and the shift selector lever nut and the lever after that dismount the pnp switch. For installation, put the shaft of the shift in n (Neutral) and match the flats of the shift shaft to the switch. Mount the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut to 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and shift lever and nut. Once more, install the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut and tighten the latter to 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and reattach the shift linkage. Make sure that the engine will not be able to start unless it is positioned in the p (Park) or n (Neutral) until the negative battery is attached again.

    Q:
How to replace the cruise control switch on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement of the cruise control release switch requires removing the LH I/P lower insulator panel initially. First disconnect the cruise control release switch electrical connector before removing the switch from its mounting bracket. When installing the cruise control release switch place it on the switch bracket while making sure you hear both audible clicks to confirm it is fully seated. Then, reconnect the electrical connector. Check switch position by grasping the clutch pedal and pulling it all the way back to the pedal stop then listen for audible clicks when the switch settles into its correct position. Place back the LH I/P lower insulator panel after conclusion of the task.

    Q:
What is the Function and Diagnostic Process of the Neutral Safety Switch in the Park/Neutral Position and back up Lamp Switch Assembly on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The external component of the park/neutral position (PNP) and back up lamp switch assembly that attaches to the transmission manual shaft operates through four internal switches which track the transmission gear range selector lever position. When the lever moves the pcm applies ignition voltage to each switch circuit so the switch states can transition between open and closed. The pcm determines the selected gear range by comparing real-time voltage combinations against stored tr switch pattern charts when high voltage means open circuit signals and low voltage signals trigger closed circuits. Diagnosing the system involves verifying the correct switch signal values in circuits a, b, c and parity where hi marks ignition voltage signals and low represents zero voltage signals. Inspect all connecters at the pcm and tr switch and other circuits between points for intermittent failures and check these circuits' wiring for possible issues. A disconnected tr switch results in the loss of ground from all tr switch circuits so the pcm detects open circuits that produce hi signals on the scan tool range information displays. To test the tr switch wiring check for an open signal voltage from the pcm through a fused jumper wire which enables the pcm testing and allows the scan tool range signal to show low when properly grounded. The process can be performed multiple times to verify correct device operation.

    Q:
How to adjust the Cruise Control Switch on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin yhe adjustment of cruise control release switch with proper insertion into its bracket. Draw the Brake Pedal slowly backward to stop the click sounds which enables switch movement within the retainer bracket for adjustments. Post-release pedal verification requires checking that the switches for release and stoplamp + torque converter clutch activate within 25.4 mm (1 in) pedal extension. Verify that the release switches activate together or before brake applications but understand that Brake Pedal contact lasts up to 25.4 mm (1 in) before the cruise control disconnects.

How to service and repair the Neutral Safety Switch on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
A technician must start by unmounting the front floor console when performing transmission position switch/sensor maintenance work. Begin by disconnecting the park neutral position switch electrical connector then remove the bolts that secure the park neutral position switch. Extract the switch carefully from its position in the transmission control. The transmission control must be set to neutral before placing the tang portion of the park neutral position switch into the transmission control slot followed by adjustment according to installation needs. After attaching the park neutral position switch electrical connector you should reposition the front floor console.
