2004 Chevrolet Classic Fuel Level Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel level sensor on 2004 Chevrolet Classic?
A: The first step to swapping out the Fuel Level Sensor is to eliminate the fuel sender assembly. Delete the retaining clip holding the Fuel Pump and Fuel Level Sensor electrical connections which sit at the top of the fuel sender assembly. After that, unplug the pump and level sensor electrical connector. Press the 3 tabs securing the upper fuel reservoir to unzip it from the lower reservoir and pull it up until separation occurs. Push the tab on the Fuel Level Sensor housing to slide it upward and release it from the housing before removing its retaining clip from the electrical connector at its end while keeping track of the wire positions. The installation process requires the wires to pass under the Fuel Level Sensor before the tab successfully locks into position. Put the Fuel Level Sensor into position by inserting it downward through the housing followed by inserting the upper reservoir into the lower reservoir. Attach the 2 wires to their corresponding connector port followed by securing the retaining clip while connecting the Fuel Pump and Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector and locking it with the clip retention. Cover all steps by reinstalling the fuel sender assembly.
