2004 Chevrolet Colorado Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the front seat belt in a Crew Cab on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: The procedure to replace any front seat belt in a Crew Cab begins with disabling the SIR system. Start the replacement of the front seat belt upper guide shoulder bolt trim cover by opening it to remove the shoulder bolt. First disconnect the electrical connector from the retractor/pretensioner but make sure to remove the front seat belt anchor bolt and the lower center pillar trim panel followed by the front seat belt upper guide shoulder bolt. First remove the bolt which maintains the seat belt retractor/pretensioner assembly to the body before extracting the front seat belt assembly from the car. The operator must position the rear seat belt retractor/pretensioner assembly onto the vehicle and install the bolt which retains the seat belt retractor/pretensioner assembly to the body while tightening it to 52.5 N.m (39 lb ft). Attach the electrical connector to the retractor/pretensioner unit after you mount the front seat belt upper guide using its bolt while maintaining the seat belt webbing straight and apply torque to the front seat belt upper guide bolt at 52.5 N.m (39 lb ft). Connect the front seat belt anchor bolt to ensure proper alignment between the seat webbing and the bolt shaft then tighten it to 52.5 N.m (39 lb ft). Afterward, install the lower center pillar trim panel together with the front seat belt upper guide shoulder bolt trim cover. Finally, enable the SIR system.
