    A: The first step to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor must start by shutting OFF the ignition and properly lifting the vehicle while following important vehicle safety rules. Engine coolant needs draining until levels fall below ECT sensor location before lowering the vehicle. Follow the fuel control system guidelines when you disconnect the ECT sensor harness connector while paying attention to avoid damaging the components. Before installation of the new ECT sensor thread the component threads with sealer P/N 12346004 or any equivalent material. Tighten the installed ECT sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Mount the ECT sensor electrical connector into place while filling the engine coolant.
