- Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?A: The first step to replace compressor hose assembly requires refrigerant recovery before proceeding. First remove the air cleaner assembly then take off the A/C Compressor hose nut from the condenser while disconnecting the A/C Compressor hose from the condenser. The A/C Compressor hose block to evaporator tube needs its nut removed for detachment of the A/C Compressor hose from the evaporator tube. The next task requires you to remove the lower air deflector followed by the A/C Compressor hose nut from the A/C Compressor and the A/C Compressor hose from the A/C Compressor while discarding all sealing washers. New sealing washers must be fitted onto the A/C Compressor hose assembly before attaching the hose to the A/C Compressor while torqueing the nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). The lower air deflector must be replaced after adding new sealing washers to both the A/C Compressor hose assembly and evaporator tube then tightening the evaporator tube nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Attach the A/C Compressor hose to the condenser before tightening its hose nut until it reaches 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Reinstallation of the air cleaner assembly follows a/c system evacuation and recharge as well as a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) test for fittings.
