How to replace the rear Door Latch Assembly on 2004 Chevrolet Malibu?

The procedure to replace a rear Door Lock begins with removing the rear door trim panel together with the rear door water deflector. Begin by removing the rivet which joins the inside handle rod to the Door Handle after you detach the inside handle rod along with the lock rod from the Door Handle. The securement of the lock to the door requires screws 1, 2, 3 to be removed before separating the lock rod and inside handle rod from their retaining clips. Extract the lock through the door opening along with its attached inside handle rods before removing the outer handle rod independently. Remove the electrical connectors before extracting the lock rods and inside handle rod from the lock core. Install the Door Lock by inserting it through the inner panel access hole of the door while attaching its inside handle rod and lock rod. Reconnect the electrical connectors after you install the Door Lock screws beginning with the top screw followed by the bottom screw and finishing with the middle screw while tightening to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install a new outside handle rod-to-lock clip on the Door Lock lever while placing the outside Door Handle rod correctly into the clip to obtain a smooth lockdown. The clip cover should slide onto the threaded outside handle rod before the inside handle rod and lock rod are attached to the Door Handle using clips for security. Before completion reinstall the rear door water deflector and rear door trim panel after conducting a proper inspection of the lock system and securing the retaining clips to the handle rod and lock rod.
