2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Oxygen Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 2 Sensor 1 on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: Here is the procedure for replacing the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Bank 2 Sensor 1: first elevate and support the vehicle. First remove the clip which secures the HO2S to the engine harness and unplug the sensor from its harness connection. You must first remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer after disconnecting the HO2S electrical connector before removing the bank 2 HO2S. Installation requires anti-seize compound GM P/N 12377953 or equivalent to be applied to HO2S threads if changing out old sensors because this substance made of liquid graphite and glass beads helps with removal. Screw in the bank 2 HO2S while using a torque of 42 N.m (31 lb ft). Begin by reconnecting the HO2S electrical connector then position the CPA retainer followed by the attachment of the HO2S to its harness clip with its final fastening through the clip before lowering the vehicle.
